The Colfax Business Improvement District’s mission is to protect, promote and enhance the assets of its property and business owners by providing a clean, safe, attractive, functional commercial district for its customers, visitors and employees.
The B.I.D. and all State of Colorado business improvement districts were created by the Colorado State Legislature. C-BID, originally organized as the Colfax on the Hill Business Improvement District was chartered by Denver City Council in 1989. Its board of directors are appointed by the Mayor of Denver and approved by Denver City Council.
C-BID’s business improvement mission is advanced by attracting new investment; $61 million worth in the improvement of twenty properties over the past 5-6 years. By helping existing owners improve their properties by taking advantage of low-interest improvement loans through the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development, and $1.7 million in MOED loans. This has helped leveraged the $61 million in recent reinvestment.
Our mission is advanced by working on public safety issues in concert with Denver District 6 police, a community policing partnership that has received national recognition for its efficacy. Since the partnership with District 6 began over eight years ago, reported crime has decreased by over 50% in our business district.
